Job Expectations
Join the Mike Clark Trucking team as a Company Driver, where every day brings a new adventure on the road with the vital task of transporting aggregate materials across Porterville and beyond, reaching as far as Visalia, Tulare, Fresno, and Bakersfield, CA. Occasionally, your journey might even take you out of state to places like Arizona. As part of our fleet, you'll play a crucial role in hauling essential materials such as Rock, Sand, Gravel, and Asphalt, ensuring they reach their destinations safely and efficiently.
What You'll Do:
- Navigate Locally and Beyond: Your primary role involves local drives to and from various loading and unloading sites, with the occasional long-haul journey. Prepare for significant time behind the wheel, embracing the open road and the communities we serve.
- Stay Coordinated: Communication is key. You'll work closely with dispatchers to ensure smooth operations, adapting to changes and challenges as they arise.
- Safety First: Adherence to traffic laws is non-negotiable. You'll also master the art of maneuvering large trucks into tight spots, ensuring both your safety and that of the cargo.
- Keep It Running: Before hitting the road, you'll conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to catch any mechanical issues, ensuring your truck is in top condition. Post-trip checks are just as crucial, keeping our fleet ready for what's next.
- Physical Readiness: This job isn't just about driving. You'll engage in physical activities such as climbing, lifting, and shoveling to maintain and inspect your vehicle. Your strength, flexibility, and coordination are essential to perform these tasks efficiently.
Who We're Looking For:
- Individuals who can embrace long periods of driving while enjoying the scenery and solitude of the road.
- Those ready to occasionally venture out of their comfort zone for out-of-state deliveries.
- Team players who value clear communication and can coordinate smoothly with dispatch and fellow drivers.
- Safety-conscious drivers who respect traffic laws and prioritize the well-being of themselves and others.
- Physically capable individuals who can handle the demands of vehicle maintenance and cargo management, from lifting and shoveling to climbing and crouching.
Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods and manage long drives.
- Willingness to travel out of city and, on rare occasions, out of state.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with dispatch.
- Physical ability to conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including lifting, climbing, and maneuvering as needed.
- Good hand-eye coordination for safe and efficient driving.
Join Us:
At Mike Clark Trucking, we're more than just a team; we're a family. We value the hard work, dedication, and spirit our drivers bring to the road every day. If you're ready to start an exciting journey with us, hauling essential materials and making a difference in the communities we serve, we'd love to hear from you.
Why we choose to go with (CNG)
- Environmental Impact: CNG burns cleaner than diesel, producing fewer emissions of harmful pollutants like nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter.
- Cost-Effective Fuel: In many regions, CNG can be cheaper than diesel, leading to lower operating costs over time.
- Energy Independence: Using CNG can reduce dependence on imported oil, as natural gas is often domestically sourced.
- Reduced Greenhouse Gas Emissions: CNG emits less carbon dioxide (CO2) compared to diesel, contributing to a lower carbon footprint.
- Quieter Operation: CNG engines tend to run quieter than diesel engines, which is beneficial in urban and residential areas.
